What I Know for Certain

After having the feelings of not knowing anything… I took a moment, with the guidance of that blogger who’s post I happened to come across, to change my thought process. I started thinking about all those things related to life that I did know. Looking back, I think it wasn’t that I didn’t know what I want… It was that I was living in a way that was not consistent with what I wanted and that left me in a state of anxiety. So I started thinking of all the little things that I knew in my heart that I wanted. And I started thinking of all the things I in fact did know. I compiled a list of everything I could think of in that moment that was important to me and would help me to figure out my next step. 

  1. I know for certain that I want to improve myself.
  2. I know for certain that I want to be the best version of myself I can possibly be.
  3. I know for certain that I need to work on being more patient.
  4. I know for certain that I need to work on anger management.
  5. I know for certain that I need to work on thinking before I speak.
  6. I know for certain that I need to work on speaking politely and never yelling.
  7. I know for certain that I need to work on being more positive. All the time.
  8. I know for certain that I need to be more respectful, more understanding and less judgmental with my husband.
  9. I know for certain that I should limit (to once a week or maximum 3 hours per week) or eliminate TV from my life to make room for more productive activities.
  10. I know for certain that I need to learn to love myself before I can really love anyone else.
  11. I know for certain that I need to make loving God my priority because that is true love.
  12. I know for certain my mom is God’s greatest gift to me. I wish one day I can be for my kid(s) (if I have any), what she’s been for me.
  13. I know for certain that communication, affection and passion are very important to me in a romantic relationship.
  14. I know for certain that I like to spend time with family and friends.
  15. I know for certain that I like trying new things, activities, classes, etc.
  16. I know for certain that I want to explore acrylic painting.
  17. I know for certain that when I have more time, I wish to study the bach flower remedies.
  18. I know for certain that I want to learn horseback riding.
  19. I know for certain that l enjoy shopping.
  20. I know for certain that I enjoy taking pictures and want to get better at photography.
  21. I know for certain that I enjoy dancing like no one’s watching (only comfortable enough to dance like no one’s watching when no one’s actually watching :))
  22. I know for certain that I love to sing on the top of my lungs like no one’s listening.
  23. I know for certain that smiling is everything. A smile is contagious and has the ability to trick you into thinking you’re happy and actually being happy =)
  24. I know for certain that I love going to the spa and indulging in self-care such as manis, pedis, facials, massages.
  25. I know for certain that I love how my toenails look when they’re painted. 🙂
  26. I know for certain that l like to be well-dressed.
  27. I know for certain that I have wanted to start a blog for as long as I can remember.
  28. I know for certain that once I figure out and accomplish everything on this list, I want to start a sehaj paath and add that into my routine.
  29. I know for certain that I like using essential oils and aromatherapy.
  30. I know for certain that being organized in all aspects of life is very important to me and helps me feel at ease.
  31. I know for certain that l want all of my personal spaces to be organized (home and office).
  32. I know for certain that I want my personal and work life to be organized and it causes me stress when things get disorganized.
  33. I know for certain that I want to keep my house cleaned and organized every single day.
  34. I know for certain that I want a (mostly) disciplined life/routine.
  35. I know for certain that I want a 35-37.5 hour/week kind of job (M-F and no work on Sat/Sun).
  36. I know for certain that I want to wake up and start my day early in the morning.
  37. I know for certain that I want to go to bed early so that I can get up early the next morning.
  38. I know for certain that I want to wake up and sleep at the same time 7 days/week.
  39. I know for certain that l want to learn how to meditate and spend atleast 30 mins/day trying to meditate.
  40. I know for certain that I want to take Mayhem for a walk everyday.
  41. I know for certain that I want to do kirtan or listen to kirtan or interact with bani in some other way to find inspiration/guidance everyday.
  42. I know for certain that self-care and having a routine is a priority for me.
  43. I know for certain that l wish to go to sangath at least once a week.
  44. I know for certain that I should turn off all gadgets (phone, laptop, television) atleast 2-3 hours before bed.
  45. I know for certain that l only want to focus on work for 8 hours and want to be able to leave work at work and not bring work or stress at home.
  46. I know for certain I need to take my multivitamins.
  47. I know for certain I need to take my iron and B12.
  48. I know for certain that l should be using the bach flower remedies papa jee gave me.
  49. I know for certain that l am very health-conscious.
  50. I know for certain that I should have something light for dinner (salad, soup) to lose weight.
  51. I know for certain that I should never eat till I’m full and only eat till I’m satisfied/eat smaller portions.
  52. I know for certain that I want to finish eating atleast 3 hours before sleeping.
  53. I know for certain that l like to cook and eat my own food.
  54. I know for certain that l should meal prep.
  55. I know for certain that I should drink lots of water everyday to be healthier. 
  56. I know for certain that l enjoy starting my morning with warm lemon water.
  57. I know for certain that l enjoy juicing fresh fruits and vegetables every day.
  58. I know for certain that l enjoy cooking and baking and trying new dishes and learning new meals.
  59. I know for certain that I should chew slowly and eat mindfully. 
  60. I know for certain that life should be lived mindfully.
  61. I know for certain that I am looking for peace and happiness.
  62. I know for certain that l want to make the most out of life as possible.
  63. I know for certain that I should not over-complicate life and when confused stick with the mantra: live & love.
  64. I know for certain that being healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually is very important to me. 
  65. I know for certain that I don’t want life to be too complicated. 
  66. I know for certain that I like things simple. 
  67. I know for certain that I just want to experience happiness in life from the little things that don’t cost much but things money can never buy.
  68. I know for certain that on my last day in the world, I want to have the feeling of fulfillment. I want to be able to look back at my entire life and smile and have no regrets. I want to feel that I truly fulfilled my purpose and realized my full potential.
  69. I know for certain that I should not waste any time in useless activities because life is too short and you never know when it will be over.
  70. I know for certain that no one has the ability to bring you down except yourself.
  71. I know for certain that you can enjoy anything if you just slow down. 
  72. I know for certain that waking up with a positive attitude makes all the difference to your day.
  73. I know for certain that it is not an instinct to always ‘think right’. A positive attitude & thinking right is not in our nature. It needs to be learnt. But it most definitely can be learned. Anyone and everyone can learn to think right. BK Shivani is wonderful in helping me on my journey to emotional wellness. She helps me think right in every single aspect of life. 
  74. I know for certain that I should do a reflection of things that I am thankful for everyday. And add to that list everyday.
  75. I know for certain that life is about discovering who you are.
  76. I know for certain that life gets better as you grow older and learn more about who you really are.
  77. I know for certain that we all owe it to ourselves to figure out who we really are and what we really want to be and do so that we can fulfill our purpose. 
  78. I know for certain that one of the most important things I’ve learnt in life is do not judge others.
  79. I know for certain that you should always try to help people. Life is too short. Every single person around you struggles with something. Be compassionate.
  80. I know for certain that: Man jeetai jag jeet: Conquer your own mind and you can conquer the world. But you got to start with yourself. So important. I love gurbani!
  81. I know for certain that I have mild depression and anxiety and that I need to work on getting better.
  82. I know for certain that my mind and emotions can (sometimes) be scarier than the scariest rollercoasters. The many places my mind and emotions are able to go to within a minute is unbelievable and feels like uncontrollable 
  83. I know for certain that l want to start the bounce back program because it will help with my mental health and wellbeing and that is very important.
  84. I know for certain that for my mental health and wellbeing, I need a routine and consistency.
  85. I know for certain that I want to travel and explore all that the world has to offer.
  86. I know for certain that I love being outdoors in good weather.
  87. I know for certain that little things like going for a walk at Professors Lake make me happy. 
  88. I know for certain that little things like being anywhere in the outdoors when the sun is out make me happy.
  89. I know for certain that I enjoy exploring nature, going on walks, hikes, bicycling, picnics to different parks and trails, falls, scenic places, beaches. Etc.
  90. I know for certain that little things like listening to kirtan while walking in nature make me happy.
  91. I know for certain that I love riding my bike. 
  92. I know for certain that I want to spend at least one day a week (preferably Sundays) going out of the city to places such as Blue Mountain, Niagara Falls, etc.
  93. I know for certain that I want to learn to be more grateful for everything I have.
  94. I know for certain that I should be thankful every single day and moment for every single thing that I have.
  95. I know for certain that I am so privileged to be able to sit down and make time for making a list like this. So so privileged. Thank you God.
  96. I know for certain that I should use my privilege to contribute to the world in a positive way.
  97. I know for certain that I want to do yoga everyday because it keeps me feeling amazing.
  98. I know for certain that l want to learn to be a better swimmer.
  99. I know for certain being fit and physically strong/exercise leads to a healthy happy life.
  100. I know for certain that exercising and being fit gives me confidence.
  101. I know for certain that exercise makes me feel good.
  102. I know for certain that being ‘religious’ is not as important to me as being spiritual.
  103. I know for certain that Guru Granth Sahib Jee is the best spiritual guide in the entire world.
  104. I know for certain that I want to (try my best to) live my life with the guidance of Guru Granth Sahib jee.
  105. I know for certain that l wish to complete the 1 year Raja Yoga Meditation course that I have started at the Brampton Meditation Center.
  106. I know for certain that I should always be aware of the 5 vikaars: kaam, krodh, lobh, moh and hankaar and make sure that they never take over my life.
  107. I know for certain that I am thankful to Bhai Balvinder Singh and Mrs.Gill’s family for teaching me and giving me the gift of Sikhi.
  108. I know for certain that I enjoyed Dulla ji’s kirtan classes in the past and should go to any classes he holds in the future because it is a blessing to be able to learn kirtan from Dulla jee.
  109. I know for certain that I am thankful for Bhai Jaswant Singh jee for giving me santhaya.
  110. I know for certain that l am thankful for the Brampton Meditation Center for giving me clarity.
