Days 2-3/ 730

For the past 2 days, I’ve kept up with 4 of the basic things I’d like to do on a daily basis:

  • Wake up atleast before 8 AM
  • Go for daily walks – try to get atleast 10,000 steps a day
  • Do yoga every single day
  • Focus on cooking and eating healthy homemade (or mom-made) whole plant based foods

Day 2 Checklist

Asleep: 12:15 AM
Awake: 7:15 AM
Nitnem: Completed all of my daily prayer
Walk: 14,709 steps
Yoga: Day 2 of 30 Days of Yoga with YWA
Breath-work: Practiced Ujjayi breathing (ocean breath/victorious breath) – very soothing. Looking forward to continuing this practice of breath-work
Healthy WFPB Meals: Lunch: Tofu, Veggies & Wild Rice; Dinner: A vegan burger (hubby picked it up for me)
Additional self-care: Went for a relaxation massage
Challenges of the day: was getting caught up during working hours with upsetting and negative personal thoughts (around having children) and was feeling a bit depressed by the end of the day. I was very negative with my thoughts and unintentionally created a very bad and negative energy.
Highlight of the day: My husband trying to cheer me up ❤ and deliciously sweet cherries

Day 3 Checklist

Asleep 12 AM
Awake 7:51 AM
Walk: 10,749 steps
Yoga: Day 3 of 30 Days of Yoga with YWA
Healthy WFPB Meals: Wild rice & mom’s homemade daal; Dinner: WFPB Lasagne
Cheat meal: chocolate cake to celebrate my brother’s birthday
Highlight of the day: Nighttime walk with my husband – beautiful weather, stars in the sky, having a present mind, reciting Rehras Sahib paath, beautiful smells of nature and flowers, overall very peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere. Another highlight: a deliciously sweet papaya (I think the sweetest papaya I’ve ever had)
Challenges/An update: Today was a much better day than yesterday. I woke up feeling a bit drained so I did end up taking a nap after initially getting up. I felt a bit lazy too – I guess I still had a bit of negative energy from yesterday. However, things quickly changed. A major chunk of my day was positive. And my day ended on a very positive note. I did have a down moment at work because it felt very overwhelming and at one point I just wished I could shoot myself (okay, kind of an exaggeration) but regardless it was a bit of negative energy there for a moment. However, I left early to focus on cooking (which was so therapeutic).

Other goals I would like to continue to focus on which I am not yet in the habit of

  • completing all my daily nitnem with a presence of mind
  • mastering the skill of hard-work
  • to really make time to explore the concept and practice of mindfulness, meditation and breath-work
  • completion of a sehaj paath during this challenge
  • going to bed earlier and waking up earlier
  • daily blogging
  • daily positivity, positive energy, a positive mind, positive thoughts

Overall, what I have learned over the past 2 days is that again, happiness comes from the little things. It is so important to be able to stay in the present moment – this practice helps to slow down the fast-paced world we are surrounded by. Love, patience and a positive mind is always better than negative thoughts and emotions.
